Where do I apply?
You may apply for a professional certification at www.nw3c.org/certifications. You must login and select which certification you would like to apply for.
How do I know if I have enough points?
You may use the points matrix that is available HERE to determine how many points you have.
What is "directly related" experience?
Directly related means, training, education, or job function that specifically involves knowledge, skills, or abilities meeting the required body of knowledge for the certification.
How do I pay?
You can pay for your certification by credit card or invoice. There are two separate transactions—the $50 application fee, then if approved, the remaining $250.
Will I receive training points for courses taken from another training provider?
Yes. We will accept directly related training that has been taken within the past 5 years.

What if my degree is in Criminal Justice?
General Criminal Justice degrees do not meet the education requirements for an NW3C certification. Your degree must be considered directly related to the certification body of knowledge. For example, if you are applying to the Certified Economic Crime Forensic Examiner certification, a degree in accounting or international business with a focus on forensics or fraud will count. If you are applying to the Certified Cyber Crime Examiner or Certified Cyber Crime Investigator certification, a degree related to digital forensics, computer science, intelligence analysis, or cyber security will count.
Can I get a group discount?
For organizations with 10 or more applicants, you may qualify for a group discount. Please email certifications@nw3c.org.
If I apply for two certifications, do I pay two $50 application fees and renewal fees?
Yes. You must pay an application fee for each certificate application you submit. You must also pay a renewal fee for each as well.
When will I know if my application has been approved or denied?
Watch for an email to arrive within approximately 10 business days from the date you submitted your application.
When does my certification expire?
Your certification will expire one year from the date you were granted your certification. You must renew your certification every year.
Will you send me a renewal notice?
Yes. You will receive a reminder sent to the email address on file 90, 60, 30, and 15 days prior to your expiration date.

How much does my certificate cost to ship?
Shipping is free for the United States, $15 for Canada, and $30 for all other countries.
How does my team earn a plaque?
To show our appreciation for your commitment to professionalism and public safety, NW3C awards a plaque to work units that have 5 or more certificate holders. We also offer an optional press release and recognition via online social media.
